In a bid to boost passenger numbers, the Railways is set to decrease the fares of Vande Bharat trains, according to official sources. These premium trains, which have been operating with low occupancy rates, are expected to undergo a fare review to enhance profitability and make them more accessible to the general public. The Indo-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express currently operates at a mere 29 percent occupancy, while the Bhopal-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express fares slightly better at 33 percent. The Nagpur-Bilaspur Express records the highest occupancy among the three, with nearly 55 percent of its seats filled. Despite their short travel durations, these trains have struggled to attract passengers due to their relatively high ticket prices. Recognizing the need to address the issue, railway officials have emphasized the importance of reviewing and reducing the fares of these trains. The aim is to make them affordable for the common man, stimulating interest and increasing passenger numbers.
