Uttarakhand: In a symbolic gesture of respect and hospitality, police officials in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, showered flower petals on 'Kanwariyas' as they carried the sacred water of the Ganga on July 5. This act was carried out in accordance with the directive of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Chief Minister Dhami had previously expressed his warm welcome to the Kanwariyas in June and emphasized the importance of ensuring their convenience and safety. In line with his instructions, the administration took the initiative to honor the pilgrims by showering them with flower petals. The annual 'Kanwar Yatra' commenced on July 4 and is scheduled to continue until July 18. During this pilgrimage, devotees travel to Haridwar to collect the holy water of the Ganga and offer it to Lord Shiva in their hometowns. The showering of flower petals serves as a gesture of reverence and appreciation for the devotion and spiritual journey undertaken by the Kanwariyas.
