Despite being the sister of the Chief Minister of India's most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, Shashi Payal leads a modest life running a small tea stall. Far from the power corridors her brother Yogi Adityanath frequents, Payal remains grounded, living simply and contentedly in their home state of Uttarakhand. Shashi Payal operates her tea shop near the revered Mata Bhuvaneshwari temple in Faudi Garhwal, a remote area nestled in the hills of Uttarakhand. A clear contrast to her brother's high-profile role, her everyday life revolves around her small business and the local community. Born into a family of eight children in Faudi, Yogi Adityanath, the fifth child, embraced the life of a sannyasin (ascetic) in 1994, while Payal, the oldest sibling, found contentment in domesticity. She married Puran Singh from her village and has since established her life there. Even though their paths diverged significantly, the bond between the siblings remains strong.
