Chandrababu Naidu, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, made significant pledges on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of a commemorative program honoring the 125th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. Chandrababu Naidu declared his intention to construct a memorial dedicated to Raju in Amaravati and rename the upcoming Bhogapuram international airport in his honor once the TDP reclaimed power in the state. Alluri Sitarama Raju, a valiant freedom fighter who bravely confronted the oppressive British rule during the colonial era and ultimately sacrificed his life for the cause, was commemorated in the ceremony held in Vijayawada. During his speech, Chandrababu Naidu expressed his concern over the lack of initiatives from the state government to observe Raju's birth centenary.
