Hyderabad: In a significant milestone, the Telangana High Court has made history by delivering its first-ever judgment in the Telugu language. The bench, composed of Senior Justice P. Naveen Rao and Justice Nagesh Bhimapaka, recently issued a 44-page verdict in Telugu, concerning an appeal related to property inheritance from the mother. Traditionally, proceedings in the Supreme Court and High Courts have been conducted exclusively in English. Petitions, supporting documents, and evidence were required to be translated into English and submitted to the court registry, regardless of their original language. However, recognizing the growing significance of regional languages, courts have started taking steps to promote the use of mother tongues.
