In a significant political development, the Bharat Rahtra Samithi (BRS), the reigning party in Telangana, is preparing to weather a potentially major setback. An estimated 35 prominent figures within the party are planning to shift their allegiance to the Congress party, just as the state gears up for the upcoming elections. At the forefront of this impending mass migration are Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, a former stalwart of BRS, and Jupally Krishna Rao, the erstwhile minister of the state. Reports have confirmed that both leaders have held discussions with the high command of the Congress party, including its president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi. In an assertion of this newly formed alliance, these BRS leaders are expected to officially announce their transition to the Congress in a grand public gathering.
