On Sunday, Egypt awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the highest state honour, 'The Order of the Nile'. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi bestowed the award on PM Modi during his first State visit to Egypt in Cairo. An Indian Prime Minister has not visited an African country since 1997 until his visit. PM Modi held discussions with President Sisi earlier today and they both signed MoUs. The Heliopolis Commonwealth War Cemetery was also visited by The Prime Minister at this location. He commemorated the heroic efforts of Indian soldiers who fought gallantly in Egypt and Palestine during WWI, ultimately sacrificing themselves.
