Actress Karate Kalyani suspended from MAA Association
Tollywood's renowned character actress Karate Kalyani has been suspended from the Movie Artiste's Association (MAA), following controversial remarks she made about the upcoming inauguration of NTR statue in Khammam.
The decision to suspend Karate Kalyani was announced today by Raghu Babu, the General Secretary of MAA. A notice issued by the association stated that her membership has been canceled, and she is now barred from participating in any MAA-related activities.
The notice highlighted the reason behind the suspension, focusing on Karate Kalyani's comments regarding the portrayal of NTR's statue in the form of Lord Sri Krishna's avatar. Expressing her objection, she went as far as issuing a warning, stating that the statue would face vandalism if inaugurated. Moreover, she claimed that the Yadava community was deeply upset by this depiction.
Reacting to the controversial remarks, MAA President Manchu Vishnu promptly issued a show cause notice to Karate Kalyani, demanding an explanation for her statements. However, despite presenting her clarification on May 16th, the MAA panel remained unconvinced, leading to the subsequent decision to suspend her membership.
