Amaravati: In response to rallies called by both ruling and opposition parties, Section 144 has been imposed in Thullur, Guntur district. Tensions have risen as the Guntur district TDP president, Tenali Shravan Kumar, called for a protest against the R-5 zone, while YSRCP leaders planned a two-wheeler rally in support of the zone. To preempt any potential law and order issues, the police had earlier imposed Section 144 and Section 30 of the Police Act in Thullur. However, farmers led by the TDP staged a protest against the R-5 zone in Thullur, despite the imposed restrictions. The police, who had already deployed hundreds of personnel at the protest site, swiftly arrested the farmers. Shockingly, the police did not differentiate between women, elderly individuals, and other protestors, forcefully apprehending them.
