In a move aimed at enhancing the safety measures for former Indian cricket team captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, the West Bengal government has decided to elevate his security cover to Z category, according to a senior official. The decision was taken on Tuesday after the expiration of Sourav Ganguly's previous Y category security tenure. The senior official stated, "Following the conclusion of the VVIP's security cover, a comprehensive review was conducted in accordance with the protocol, resulting in the decision to upgrade Sourav Ganguly's security cordon to Z category." Under the new security arrangement, Sourav Ganguly will be accompanied by a team of 8 to 10 police personnel, ensuring enhanced protection, the official confirmed.
