In a tragic turn of events, Telangana has been deeply affected by a series of student suicides following the announcement of intermediate exam results, equivalent of Classes 11 and 12. Over the past 48 hours, eight students - four boys and four girls - have tragically ended their lives, while two additional girls have attempted suicide. The five victims from the capital city, Hyderabad, and the remaining three hailed from Nizamabad, Wanaparthy, and Jagtial. Furthermore, two suicide attempts were recorded, one each from Sangareddy and Wanaparthy. This grim trend of student suicides is not new in Telangana, often witnessed post the declaration of intermediate exam results. In an attempt to alleviate such distressing incidents, the government has established various measures. These include a 24/7 crisis response cell and a toll-free helpline number (14416) to provide counseling services, aiming to help students cope with exam-induced stress and anxiety.
