The 2016 Tuni train burning case has been dismissed by the Vijayawada Railway Court on Monday. The judge ruled that the railway police had failed to properly identify the accused and provide sufficient evidence against them. The court also directed action to be taken against three railway policemen who did not investigate the case properly. The incident occurred on January 31, 2016, when protesters set fire to a train at Tuni railway station during a Kapu Nadu meeting. Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham had organized the event, demanding reservation for kapus. The situation turned violent, resulting in the Ratnachal Express train being set on fire. As many as 41 people, including Mudragada Padmanabham and Dadisetty Raja, were granted bail in the case. At the time of the incident, leaders of TDP and YSRCP had made allegations against each other.
