Jagtial: Former Minister and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) T Jeevan Reddy was placed under house arrest by the police in Jagtial for showing support to the Pashigama villagers in Velgatur Mandal. The villagers are protesting against the state government's plan to set up an ethanol manufacturing plant in their village, citing concerns about pollution of the groundwater and air. In response to his house arrest, MLC Jeevan Reddy expressed his frustration and called for the reopening of the closed Sugar plant in Metpalli. In addition to passing unanimous resolutions in gram panchayats, residents of several villages have been protesting daily over the past few days, demanding that the government revoke its decision to establish the ethanol plant and a rice bran oil plant.
