Union Home Minister Amit Shah vowed to eliminate reservations for Muslims in Telangana if the BJP forms the government in the state, during a rally at Chevella near Hyderabad on Sunday. He criticized religion-based reservations and referred to them as "unconstitutional". The BJP leader promised to revoke the 4 per cent Muslim quota and grant it to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other backward communities. "This right belongs to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBC," Amit Shah stated. In response, Owaisi hit back at the Home Minister, saying that the BJP has no vision for Telangana other than "anti-Muslim hate speech". He further questioned why the party seems to harbor so much hatred for the people of Telangana, and accused them of offering only fake encounters, surgical strikes on Hyderabad, curfews, releasing criminals, and bulldozers.
