The US Consulate General in Hyderabad has officially opened its new facility in Nanakramguda, marking the end of 15 years of operations from the historic Paigah Palace in Begumpet. The consulate's new location is situated in the Financial District, an information technology hub in the western part of the city. The new facility spans 12 acres and embodies the US State Department's commitment to providing secure, functional, and resilient facilities for US diplomacy. The construction project, which cost $340 million, included $70 million in local investment and employed over 1,000 American, Indian, and third-country nationals. With the new building, the consulate will triple its workforce and provide visa services to tourists visiting the US, including those from the states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. According to US Consul General Rebecca Drame, the consulate aims to issue 100,000 visas to Indians this year.
