In a tragic incident, at least 80 people have died and 220 others have been injured in a stampede at an aid distribution center in Yemen's capital, Sanaa. The Houthi-led health ministry's spokesperson, Anis Al-Subaihi, confirmed the casualties. According to the Houthi-controlled interior ministry's spokesperson, Abdul Khalik Al-Ajri, the incident was caused by the uncoordinated distribution of money by some merchants, as reported by Xinhua news agency. With Eid al-Fitr, one of the most significant festivals for Muslims, fast approaching, many impoverished Yemenis gathered at charity centers to receive basic necessities. Years of conflict have left the country's population struggling to make ends meet.
