Karnataka: Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and prominent Lingayat leader, Jagadish Shettar, has made a surprising move by joining the Congress party on Monday morning in Bengaluru. According to the reports, Jagadish Shettar joined the party in the presence of the Congress' National President, Mallikarjun Kharge, and the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President, DK Shivakumar. This decision comes after a crucial meeting on Sunday evening between Jagadish Shettar, DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah, and Randeep Surjewala in Bengaluru, where he laid out his terms for joining the party. Reports suggest that Jagadish Shettar is likely to receive the Congress ticket from the Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency. A six-time MLA, Jagadish Shettar has previously served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka and the State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, he was denied a ticket by the BJP this time for the assembly polls.
