Tirumala: A fire broke out at the Asthana Mandapam in Tirumala on Sunday, causing panic among locals and devotees. The fire allegedly started when a heap of scrap material caught fire and the officials are suspecting the involvement of unidentified miscreants. According to the sources, the shopkeepers in the cellar of the Mandapam noticed smoke billowing out and quickly alerted Fire and TTD officials. The officials acted promptly, extinguishing the fire and preventing a major mishap in the heavily trafficked area of Tirumala. The area sees a heavy movement of pilgrims around the clock.
