Kolkata: On Wednesday, a tragic incident occurred in Bankura's Borjora as a military officer, who was undergoing parachute training, was found dead in a field close to a factory. Sources said that the parachute failed to open and fell to the ground. The young officer was immediately rushed to a nearby super-speciality hospital, but unfortunately, doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police found an identity card from the officer's uniform during the inquest and identified him as Chandraka Govind, 31, a resident of Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh. The police contacted the nearest air force base in Panagarh, West Burdwan, and air force officers arrived at the hospital to identify the body. The body was later shifted to Bankura Sammilani Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
