On Saturday, the long arm of the law finally caught up with Rashid, one of the accused in the brutal murder of cricketer Suresh Raina's family members in 2020. Rashid, who had a notorious reputation in multiple murder and robbery cases, was tracked down and killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh police in Shahpur. According to senior Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Suman, Muzaffarnagar, Rashid, also known by his aliases 'Sipahiya' and 'Chalta Firta', had a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. The police had been relentlessly pursuing Rashid, who had been on the run since the triple murder of Raina's relatives. His capture was a significant breakthrough in the case, which had shocked the nation. The police had previously arrested Talib and Shahjan in September 2022, who had confessed to their involvement in the robbery and murder of Raina's family members.
