DK Shivakumar Sparks Controversy by Throwing Currency Notes During Election Campaign

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President DK Shivakumar was caught on camera throwing currency notes during his election campaign in Bevinahalli, Mandya district of Karnataka. The incident took place when Shivakumar was touring in a bus, and he was seen showering Rs 500 notes from the vehicle.

Shivakumar, who is also Congress' likely Chief Ministerial candidate in the upcoming elections in Karnataka, is leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters in Mandya district, which is considered a stronghold of Janata Dal (Secular). The incident has stirred a major controversy as Shivakumar was seen splashing the notes on cultural artists who were next to his election rally vehicle during the ‘Praja Dhwani Yatra’.

The BJP currently holds 121 seats in the outgoing Karnataka assembly, and the Congress is trying hard to make inroads into the state's political landscape. However, Shivakumar's actions have drawn criticism from various quarters, with many calling it a blatant violation of the election code of conduct.
