Illegal Mining Controversy: YSRCP Minister, MP, Others Receive HC Notices
The recent events have been nothing short of a major setback for the YSRCP top brass. First, the party was handed a crushing defeat in the graduates' MLC elections. And now, court notices have been served to some of YSRCP's key leaders, including minister Vidadala Rajini, MP Avinash Reddy, and his relative Prathap Reddy, Swetha Reddy, and others, in connection with illegal mining. The issue stems from a case filed in the High Court by the locals of Murikipudi village in Chilakalurupeta, who allege that the government issued NOCs for granite mining in the area without their consent or consultation. The locals also claim that these lands were assigned to SC and ST communities.
The High Court has already begun hearing the case and has issued a status quo order against the illegal mining on the 21-acre land that is being objected to. In addition to the Tahsildar responsible for issuing the NOCs, the court has also sent notices to YSRCP leaders who are believed to be involved in the illegal mining.
