Life Term For UP Gangster Turned Politician Atiq Ahmed, 2 Others In Kidnapping Case
Atiq Ahmed, a notorious former MP and MLA with over 100 criminal cases against him, including murder and kidnapping, has finally been held accountable for his heinous crimes. The verdict was delivered by a court in Prayagraj, which found Ahmed and two others guilty in the 2006 Umesh Pal kidnapping case.
Ahmed's journey to the courtroom was no less than a spectacle. He was brought from a Gujarat prison to Prayagraj in a long police cavalcade that drew the attention of onlookers on both sides of the road. The visuals from outside the court showed Ahmed being brought in large vans, escorted by heavily armed police personnel.
However, the news isn't entirely satisfying for those seeking justice. Ahmed's brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf, and seven others were acquitted in the same case, raising concerns among the victim's family and the general public.
The verdict comes barely a month after the shocking murder of Umesh Pal, a key witness in the 2005 murder case of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Krishnanand Rai.
