Kalvakuntla Kavitha, a member of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and former Member of Parliament, departed for New Delhi on a special flight from the Begumpet Airport on Sunday, accompanied by her elder brother, the IT Minister KT Rama Rao, and MP Santosh Kumar. Additionally, lawyers and senior members of the legal cell of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi also traveled with her to Delhi. Kavitha's trip comes amidst uncertainty regarding whether or not she will appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED). On March 16, Kavitha did not attend the ED's summons, citing that no woman should be forced to testify outside of where she lives. She authorized the general secretary of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Soma Bharat Kumar, to attend the hearing on her behalf. In a letter, Kavitha stated that the outcome of the petition she filed in the Supreme Court, listed for March 24, should be awaited before any further action is taken with regards to the ED's summons.
