According to a report by media, Rakesh Reddy, the main suspect in the murder of NRI businessman Chigurupati Jayaram, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the First Additional Metropolitan Magistrate’s court in Nampally, Hyderabad on Thursday. In January 2019, the body of Jayaram was discovered in a car near Aithavaram in Nandigama, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. The police investigation revealed that the murder had occurred in the rented residence of Rakesh Reddy in Jubilee Hills and subsequently transferred the case to Telangana state. A case was registered by the police in Jubilee Hills police station based on the complaint of Jayaram’s uncle Picchaiah Chaudhary on February 7, 2019. After examining 73 witnesses in the case, the court found Rakesh Reddy guilty of conspiracy and murder of the NRI businessman. The Jubilee Hills Police had filed a 23-page chargesheet in the murder case and included 12 people as accused, but 11 were later acquitted.
