Suryapet: Passengers of two RTC buses were fortunate to escape unscathed after the vehicles caught fire and were destroyed on National Highway 65 at Gumpula in Chivvemla Mandal of Suryapet in the early hours of Sunday. According to the sources, a technical issue occurred in one of the buses and the driver requested the passengers to exit the vehicle so he could make repairs. The second bus stopped behind it to offer assistance. However, a spark from the battery during repairs caused the first bus to catch fire, which quickly spread to the second bus, engulfing both vehicles. Thankfully, all passengers had already disembarked from the buses before the fire started. Fire engines promptly arrived on the scene and brought the fire under control. Another bus was arranged to take the 50 passengers to their intended destination in Vijayawada.
