India's top Gymnast Dipa Karmakar banned for 21 months for doping

Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar has been banned for 21 months after testing positive for the banned stimulant higanamine in an October 11, 2021 sample. The International Testing Agency found her guilty of doping and as a result, her results from all tournaments she participated in have been disqualified. The ban is in effect till July 10, 2023, causing her to miss multiple World Cup series and the Apparatus World Cup.

Dipa may still be able to participate in the World Championships in Antwerf starting on September 23. The news has upset her fans.
