West Bengal: In a heart-wrenching incident, a son carried his mother's body on his shoulders after he was unable to pay the money demanded by ambulance operators. The incident took place in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. According to the sources, the deceased identified as Lakhi Dewan was admitted to the Jalpaiguri Medical College and Hospital on Sunday after she suffered respiratory issues. She died on Thursday while undergoing treatment. Her son Ram Prasad approached the ambulance drivers to shift the dead body of her mother to their village which is 40 km away from the hospital. It is said that he was unable to pay the money demanded by the ambulance drivers. Therefore, he carried his mother's body on his shoulders and after some time, a social service organisation helped him by providing an ambulance.
