TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy arrested
Revanth Reddy, president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), was detained by the police as he tried to leave his home for a scheduled protest against the issues sarpanches confront. Revanth Reddy confronted the police before to his detention, claiming that their arrest was unlawful. Senior members of the Congress who had planned to protest near Gandhi Bhavan were also detained, and some were placed under house arrest.
To stop Revanth Reddy from leaving his Jubilee Hills home to lead the dharna in Indira Park, police officers were stationed outside his home.
Revanth Reddy claimed that the state government was withholding payments from panchayats, which was hindering local development.
To protest the government's callous approach to allocating cash for villages, Telangana Sarpanches Sangam has called for a demonstration across the state to congregate at the dharna venue.
