In light of the increased number of coronavirus illnesses in China and other nations, the Union Health Ministry today sent a letter to the states outlining measures and preparations. Although guidance has been updated, no mandates have been established. Rajesh Bhushan, the Union Health Secretary, writes in the letter that over the past few days, India has seen an average of 153 cases, which is among the lowest totals since the pandemic started two years ago. However, the ministry emphasises that the holiday season leading up to New Year's calls for arrangements to minimise risk of increase. The ministry states that usage of mask, hand and respiratory cleanliness, and adherence to physical distancing are examples of Covid-appropriate behaviour and should be prioritised.
