If all state governments come to a common understanding, green weddings may soon become a common occurrence. A Telangana couple has offered to officiate the marriage as part of a campaign to promote eco-friendly and waste-free unions. Spoorthi Kolipaka and Prashanth chose to wed at a green farm house at Shamirpet in Hyderabad because they support the idea of environmental protection. The price for event at the Shamirpet farm house was about Rs 55,000. They have persuaded their friends and parents to be married simply, without fanfare or ceremony. Instead of using invitation cards or any plastic materials, they sent whatsapp messages to their guests to invite them to the wedding. In the event, the food was prepared with organic vegetables. To inspire people to conserve the environment, Spoorthi Kolipaka quit her software career and joined a social organisation.
