YS Sharmila to NDTV on dramatic arrest: "I was insulted"- Exclusive
YS Sharmila, a leader of the YSR Telangana Party, was detained on Tuesday after attempting to drive to the Hyderabad home of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). Today, she said she felt "insulted" because her "only aim" was to "parade our vehicles that had been vandalised by his party's goons."
The YSRTP founder criticised the government's and police's actions in an exclusive interview with NDTV media, claiming that TRS cadres had insulted her and her party members and had physically assaulted them.
She rejected predictions that her party would at best be a "vote-cutter" because she had never run for office. It's too soon to make that kind of statement. As you can see, I just started the party. I have made great progress. I'm travelling 3,500 kilometres on a padayatra and am getting positive feedback. In me, they see hope. I believe I have a good chance," she stated.
She asserted, "People think I can restore my father's rule."
She enumerated the alleged broken promises made by KCR, including "cancelling farm debt, interest-free loans to women, or jobs." KCR thinks Telangana's citizens are blissfully happy and that he is the best chief minister. The exact opposite is true, she claimed.
