Rahul Gandhi, a member of the parliament of Congress, had his address cut short on Monday in Surat, Gujarat. Rahul was speaking in Hindi when a member of the audience shouted for him to keep on without waiting for a translator to join him on stage. When Rahul inquired about the possibility of using Hindi, his translator returned to his seat. The remainder of Rahul's address was then given in Hindi, to tremendous applause. The interpreter was hard to find as the audience applauded him on. It was Mr. Gandhi's first electoral rally in Gujarat, which was close to going to the polls. He was speaking to a group of tribal people in the Surat region of Mahuva.
