When Mulayam Singh Yadav's lifeless remains were set ablaze in his home hamlet of Saifai on Tuesday, emotions ran high and the thronging crowds tore down barricades. Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi party, carried out the last rituals and burned the pyre in a highly emotional environment. The leader's body remains were moved to the cremation location, where the final rituals were conducted with complete state honours. All roads in Saifai were completely blocked by massive groups of people swarming to get a glimpse of the late leader. The several UP residents who had assembled paid their final goodbyes to Netaji. Politicians, union ministers, and chief ministers from many states paid tribute.
