A prominent Lingayat mutt seer named Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru was taken into custody on Monday in connection with an alleged incidence of minor se*ual assault. Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru is the subject of a FIR that the Mysuru city police have filed after receiving a complaint on the behalf of minors. He was detained in accordance with the POCSO Act's provisions protecting children from se*ual offences.
