Rishi Sunak: ‘I’m prepared to lose this contest'
In a recent jab at his rival Liz Truss's economic platform, Rishi Sunak, a candidate for prime minister of Britain, said he would rather lose the Tory leadership race than make false promises.
The former chancellor claimed in a BBC interview that if he becomes prime minister, he would spend billions more to help the cost of living crisis. In response to Ms. Truss's economic strategy, Sunak criticised the notion that immediate tax cuts would lessen the nation's financial hardship.
"I'm standing up for what I believe to be right for this nation." I would much rather lose on those conditions than win by making empty promises that I can't keep. stated Rishi Sunak.
