The special status for Andhra Pradesh has officially come to an end, the Center has reiterated. Nithyananda Rai, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, responded to Rammohan Naidu of the Telugu Desam MP in the Lok Sabha. According to him, special status was not given priority by the 14th Finance Commission. It was discovered that the percentage of central taxes paid by states had climbed to 42%. He added that states with revenue deficits had received more funding. It was clarified that the 15th Finance Commission kept up such suggestions as well. Only a small number of the other promises made in the Partition Act, according to Nithyananda Rai, remain unfulfilled. He said that 28 meetings have been held so far to settle conflicts between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
