A two-part epic drama about Chola kings, based on the book "Ponniyan Selvan," is being directed by Mani Ratnam. The first section is known as PS-1. The makers have released the movie's teaser. The grandeur of the Chola empire in South India, the strength of its rulers, and the beauty that its queen exuded are all depicted in the PS-1 teaser. Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Prakash Raj are among the cast members of the epic drama. On September 30, 2022, the movie will be seen in theatres simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada. The music is composed by Oscar-winning musician A R Rahman. The movie's financing was provided by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
