An 11-year-old child was rescued and hauled to safety just before midnight on Tuesday after spending 104 hours trapped in a dark, water-filled borewell. Rahul Sahu of Chhattisgarh was rescued from an 80-foot deep borewell, according to sources. The operation to save the youngster who fell into the borewell while playing in the backyard of his home in Pihrid village of Malkharoda development block involved around 500 soldiers from the army, NDRF, and local police. The child was stranded in the borewell alongside a snake and a frog, according to reports. While Rahul was trapped within, a pipeline for oxygen supply was built. A 70-foot pit was dug parallel to the borewell, and a 15-foot tunnel was built to connect the pit with the borewell.
