DGCA imposes fine of 5 Lakh on IndiGo Airlines for shocking apathy

IndiGo Airlines was fined Rs 5 lakh for not allowing a special-needs youngster to board an aircraft from Ranchi. The child and its parents were left at the Ranchi airport by the Hyderabad-bound aeroplane.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the country's top air travel regulator, an investigation determined that the handling of the special child by the Indigo ground employees was defective and ended up escalating the problem.

Following the incident, Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia took the case seriously and stated that no human being should face like this situation and that he will investigate the situation.
