The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has planned a five-pronged protest against the Centre's position on Telangana rice procurement. The protest was organised in response to a call given by the party's working president and Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday. A dharna was held in Manchukonda, Raghunathpalem Mandal, Khammam district, as part of the state-wide farmer initiation, led by Minister Puvada Ajay Kumar. Protests were held against the central government, and they asked that the whole crop of mature paddy grain be purchased. TRS members will stage a 'Rasta roko' on the National Highways heading to Mumbai, Nagpur, Bengaluru, and Vijaywada on April 6. Protests will be organised with lakhs of farmers on April 7 in all district headquarters except Hyderabad.
