TDP MP Rammohan Naidu reiterated in the Lok Sabha that he, as well as the people of the Andhra Pradesh state, oppose the privatisation of the Visakhapatnam steel plant. He said that hundreds of farmers and residents had given up their land and tens of thousands of people had given their lives to build the steel plant. Rammohan requested that the steel plant's privatisation be reconsidered by the Center. He has labelled the privatisation of steel plants as unscientific. He has requested that the Center not move to privatise the plant due to losses. Only 8200 people obtained jobs out of 16,500 farmers who donated land for the Steel Plant, according to Rammohan, while the remaining 8300 farmers are still looking for a job. TDP MP has questioned the Centre on how it will ensure that these 8300 farmers obtain employment while job notifications are not being released due to disinvestment.
