“This Is Not a Win”: Jagan Criticizes Chandrababu’s Governance
YSR Congress Party President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy strongly criticized the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government, accusing it of unleashing tyranny and murdering democracy in the state. He made these remarks during a meeting held on Thursday at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, where he interacted with leaders from the Pithapuram, Markapuram, Kadiri (Gandlapenta), and Kuppam (Ramakuppam) assembly constituencies. The discussion focused on the current political scenario in the state and strategies to strengthen the party.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that the conduct of TDP during recent local body elections was undemocratic. Although the YSR Congress Party won a majority of the seats in several areas, he claimed that TDP secured key positions through abuse of power, threats, and monetary inducements.

“In Gandlapenta of Sri Sathya Sai district, we won six out of seven MPTC seats, but they took the MPP post by intimidation. In Markapuram, we won all 15 seats, yet they tried to lure our members with suitcase politics. In Pithapuram municipality, we had 26 out of 30 councillors, but they were subjected to fear and harassment,” said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He further stated that similar tactics were employed in Kuppam, the Chief Minister’s own constituency. “In Kuppam municipality, we secured 19 out of 25 wards, yet they intimidated and bought our councillors for ₹50 lakh to seize the chairman position. How can those who took an oath on the Constitution act like this? Is this what you call a victory?” he questioned.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that the TDP was misusing the police machinery for its political gains and lauded the courage of his party workers who remained steadfast despite facing such adverse circumstances.

Acknowledging that certain circumstances in the past had prevented him from doing full justice to the party cadre, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy assured that the forthcoming “Jagan 2.0” would give greater prominence to party workers. He expressed confidence that the people were observing all developments and that this “malicious regime” would soon meet its end.
