Urvashi Rautela Draws Criticism for Asking Fans to Build Temple in South India
Bollywood actress and item dancer Urvashi Rautela has once again attracted public attention with her controversial remarks. Having gained recognition in Telugu cinema through special dance numbers in films such as Waltair Veerayya and Skanda, Urvashi Rautela recently made headlines due to statements made during a media interview, which have since sparked widespread discussion on social media.
In a recent interview given to a media outlet, Urvashi Rautela said, "There is a temple in North India that has been built in my name. The Urvashi Temple located next to the Badrinath Temple was constructed for me. After making my debut in Tollywood with a Chiranjeevi film and receiving back-to-back offers in films featuring star heroes, I have gained a fan base here as well. Just like in North India, I want my fans in South India to build a temple for me too."
Her statements quickly went viral on social media, drawing a wide spectrum of reactions. While some netizens praised her confidence, others criticized her remarks as exaggerated and inappropriate. In particular, her expressed desire for a temple in her name has led to intense trolling and ridicule online.
This is not the first time Urvashi Rautela has courted controversy with her comments. Previously, she claimed that a film she starred in grossed ₹100 crore at the box office, while a film released around the same time starring Kiara Advani was a flop—remarks that also attracted considerable attention and debate.
With her recent statements about temples, Urvashi Rautela has once again become a focal point of public discourse.
