Parents’ complaint backfires as son's Instagram harassment leads to POCSO case

In YSR District’s Proddatur, a POCSO case has been registered against a boy studying in the 9th standard. According to the police, the boy had been hacking the Instagram accounts of his female classmates and harassing them. He allegedly hacked the accounts of five girls, obtained their personal photos and messages, and forwarded them to the mobile phones of boys from other classes, engaging in sustained harassment over several months.

When this matter came to light, the school teachers reprimanded and physically disciplined the boy four days ago. Subsequently, the boy's father lodged a complaint with the police against the teachers, concealing the actual events.

However, when the parents of the affected girls approached the police, the full details of the incident were revealed. Following this, Proddatur Mandal Educational Officer (MEO) Savithramma and Rural Circle Inspector Balamaddileti conducted an inquiry and confirmed the allegations of harassment.

Based on their findings, the police registered a POCSO case not only against the boy but also against his parents—Moole Kondamma and Madhavareddy—and councillor Muralidhar Reddy, who had supported him. An investigation is currently underway.
