This Is Warner’s Reaction to Rajendra Prasad’s Comments, Says Director Venky Kudumula
Telugu film actor Nithiin and director Venky Kudumula are collaborating on their upcoming film Robinhood, which is scheduled for theatrical release on March 28. As part of the promotional campaign, the film’s team organized a pre-release event in Hyderabad on March 23 (Sunday), where former Australian cricketer David Warner attended as the special guest.
During the event, senior actor Rajendra Prasad made inappropriate remarks directed at David Warner. These comments quickly went viral online, drawing sharp criticism from netizens. Several social media users expressed their displeasure, questioning why a veteran actor would speak that way to a star cricketer.
In response to the backlash, Rajendra Prasad addressed the issue, stating that his comments were not intentional and that he never meant to hurt anyone. He requested forgiveness if his words had caused any offense.
As Warner does not understand Telugu, he was seen laughing at the event, apparently unaware of the context. However, the matter later reached him. Director Venky Kudumula recently clarified Warner’s reaction in a media interview.
Speaking about the incident, Venky Kudumula said, “Rajendra Prasad and Warner became very close during the film’s shoot. During breaks, they often engaged in light-hearted conversations. Rajendra Prasad would say, ‘Why don’t you try acting?’ and Warner would reply, ‘Why don’t you try cricket?’ They would even challenge each other playfully.”
He added, “That day at the event, Rajendra Prasad happened to use that word unintentionally. When we later explained the situation to Warner, he said it was fine. He asked, ‘Do you know what sledging is in cricket? When we sledge, it makes your ears bleed. Compared to that, this is nothing,’ and took it lightly,” Venky Kudumula said.
