SLBC Tunnel Tragedy: One Decomposed Body Recovered After 16 Days

After 16 days of rescue operations, authorities have recovered a decomposed body from the SLBC (Srisailam Left Bank Canal) tunnel. The body is in an advanced state of decay and is suspected to be that of Gurpreet Singh, the tunnel boring machine operator. However, officials stated that final confirmation will be made after identification by his family.

According to sources, the Telangana state government is set to provide ₹25 lakh as compensation to the deceased’s family. The retrieved body has been sent to the Nagarkurnool Government Hospital for further procedures.

The tunnel accident had resulted in the disappearance of eight workers, and rescue efforts have been ongoing since the incident.
