"This is Our Benchmark": CM Chandrababu Inaugurates Green Hydrogen Plant in Tirupati
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu virtually inaugurated the first green hydrogen blending plant by Hero Future Energies at Rockman Industries in Tirupati from his residence in Undavalli. Highlighting the project's significance, the Chief Minister stated that Hero Future Energies is pioneering a novel approach to blending green hydrogen with PNG (Piped Natural Gas) and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) for industrial applications.

He emphasized that this technology would significantly reduce carbon emissions and set a new benchmark for India's energy transition. He further stated that the scalable model introduced in Tirupati could be replicated across Andhra Pradesh and other industries nationwide.

The virtual launch event was attended by Hero Future Energies Managing Director and Chairman Rahul Munjal, Hero Future Energies Global CEO Srivathsan Iyer, Rockman Industries Managing Director Ujjwal Munjal, Rockman Industries CEO Kaushik Manna, and Ohmium CEO Arne Ballantine.

First Step Towards Swarna Andhra Vision-2047
CM Chandrababu Naidu described the project as the first step towards making Andhra Pradesh a global hub for green hydrogen production, as envisioned under the Swarna Andhra Vision-2047. He expressed confidence that, under the state’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy 2024, Andhra Pradesh would achieve 160 GW of renewable energy capacity and attract ₹10 trillion in clean energy investments.

The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to reducing Andhra Pradesh’s dependence on fossil fuels, supporting India’s net-zero target by 2070, and decreasing crude oil imports to enhance energy security.

"I hope Hero Future Energies' journey with the green energy plant will be a grand success. Andhra Pradesh’s investor-friendly policies and skilled workforce will provide the necessary support," he stated.

Andhra Pradesh: An Ideal Hub for Green Hydrogen Exports
CM Chandrababu Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s potential as a key player in green hydrogen exports due to its extensive coastline, deep-sea ports, and strong logistics network. He noted that the ₹1,000 crore investment in the plant would generate employment for 2,000 people, benefiting Tirupati and its surrounding regions.

Key Benefits of the Green Hydrogen Project
The green hydrogen plant, established with an investment of ₹1,000 crore, is expected to create 2,000 jobs. The facility has an initial production capacity of 25 tonnes of green hydrogen per year, with the potential to expand to 54 tonnes annually. Additionally, the project will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 206 tonnes per year while releasing 190-195 tonnes of oxygen annually into the atmosphere. Overall, the initiative is expected to achieve an 8-10% reduction in emissions.
