Special Rail and Road Transport Corridor to Connect Andhra Pradesh Port: Revanth Reddy
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced plans to establish a dedicated rail and road transport corridor to connect a port in Andhra Pradesh. He made this statement while participating in the BioAsia summit held in Hyderabad. During his address, he emphasized Hyderabad’s transformation into the global capital for life sciences and highlighted the international recognition gained through the summit.
Revanth Reddy stated that Hyderabad is home to globally renowned pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, and biotech companies. He assured that the state government's policies are designed to promote research and innovation. He further noted that investments in higher education have increased significantly, leading to the development of numerous scientists, technical experts, and engineers. The Chief Minister also mentioned the establishment of Genome Valley as a result of these efforts.
He reiterated his vision to transform Telangana into a trillion-dollar economy within the next decade. He also mentioned large-scale projects like Future City and AI City coming up in Hyderabad. Additionally, he asserted that Hyderabad is emerging as India’s electric vehicle capital, with the highest number of EV sales recorded in the city. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is set to introduce 3,000 electric buses, he stated.
Revanth Reddy elaborated on the plan to develop a manufacturing hub stretching from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR). He assured that Hyderabad will be positioned among the world's largest manufacturing centers and stated that the city would cater to the "China Plus One" strategy, attracting global investments. He emphasized that the government is actively inviting investors from across the world.
The Chief Minister outlined plans to integrate ORR and RRR with radial roads and develop industrial clusters along these routes. He announced the development of a mega dry port in Telangana. He expressed his vision of making Hyderabad a hub for innovation, research, manufacturing, and skill development.
Revanth Reddy noted that Amazon has expanded its operations in Hyderabad and encouraged multinational companies to take advantage of the city's favorable conditions and government support. He stated that the Telangana government is committed to providing a business-friendly industrial policy and is actively seeking partnerships with major corporations.
He claimed that Telangana is the top destination for attracting investments both domestically and internationally. He highlighted that the state has the lowest inflation and highest employment generation. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Telangana secured investments worth ₹1.8 lakh crore, he revealed. He further mentioned that 50,000 new jobs will be created across various sectors and that over ₹40,000 crore investments were made in the life sciences sector last year, spanning more than 150 projects.
The Chief Minister stated that pharma villages are being developed between ORR and RRR, with a target of generating over five lakh new jobs. He asserted that Green and Pharma Cities are rapidly progressing, with major companies signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). He also welcomed four additional multinational corporations to invest in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that for over 25 years, Hyderabad has been a powerhouse in pharma, IT, digital, and healthcare industries. He recalled the success of the AI Healthcare Summit held last year.
