At the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been making significant strides in attracting global investments to the state. Today, the Andhra Pradesh Pavilion at WEF was abuzz with activity as prominent CEOs and chairpersons of global corporations met with Chandrababu Naidu to discuss potential opportunities. On the first day, the Chief Minister held talks with ArcelorMittal Group, and today he continued with high-profile meetings.
Among the notable leaders who met with Chandrababu Naidu were Shin Hak-Cheol, CEO of LG Chem Ltd., Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk, and Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco. During the discussions, the Chief Minister elaborated on the investment opportunities, approval processes, and developmental goals of Andhra Pradesh. He also extended invitations for investments and presented the state government’s vision for industrial and technological growth.
Key Meeting with Maersk CEO
Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s extensive coastline spanning over 1,000 kilometers and its numerous ports, Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the state’s strength in logistics and maritime trade during his meeting with Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk. The Danish shipping giant, one of the world’s largest maritime logistics companies operating across 130 countries, expressed interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister asserted that Maersk’s entry into the state could position Andhra Pradesh as a leading player in India’s maritime logistics sector. This would also create thousands of jobs and enhance the development of ports such as Visakhapatnam. Additionally, Andhra Pradesh could transform into a logistics hub for the Asia-Pacific region, boosting export-import activities and playing a pivotal role in India’s economic growth.
Invitation to Cisco for Investment
In a discussion with Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco, Chandrababu Naidu explored opportunities for technological partnerships. As a global leader in networking and technology innovation, Cisco was invited to establish a Global Capability Center (GCC) in Visakhapatnam or Tirupati. Chandrababu Naidu assured Robbins of the state’s abundant talent pool and favorable conditions for technology manufacturing.
The Chief Minister also encouraged Cisco to consider manufacturing networking components in Andhra Pradesh. Robbins responded positively, indicating interest in exploring collaborative opportunities with the state.
Proposal for LG Chem’s Lithium-Ion Battery Plant
Chandrababu Naidu met Shin Hak-Cheol, CEO of LG Chem Ltd., South Korea’s largest chemical company, to discuss investment possibilities in Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister urged LG Chem to establish a lithium-ion battery plant in the state, highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s strong support infrastructure and readiness for large-scale manufacturing.
He proposed setting up petrochemical units in areas such as Mulapeta and Visakhapatnam, as well as a semiconductor unit in Tirupati. Chandrababu Naidu assured complete state support to expedite the establishment of such facilities and invited Shin Hak-Cheol to act as an ambassador for investments between Andhra Pradesh and South Korea.

Chandrababu Naidu also held discussions with Jacob Aarup-Andersen, CEO of Carlsberg Group, a major producer of fruit juices, soft drinks, beer, and packaged drinking water. The Chief Minister proposed establishing an integrated brewery and bottling unit in Andhra Pradesh, suggesting potential sites in Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam, or Sri City industrial parks.
